A Christmas Story follows nine-year-old Ralphie Parker as he schemes and dreams his way through the holiday season in 1940s Indiana, desperate to find a Red Ryder Carbine Action BB gun under the tree on Christmas morning. Narrated by an older Ralphie looking back with warmth and humor, the film weaves together a series of childhood vignettes — a tongue frozen to a flagpole, a run-in with neighborhood bullies, and a department store Santa who sends kids down a slide. Meanwhile, his Old Man wins a “major award” in the form of a fishnet-stocking leg lamp, his mother quietly holds the family together, and Christmas morning finally arrives with a few surprises. Equal parts funny and sentimental, it has become one of the most beloved holiday films of all time.
