The Ken Kilian Big Band is returning to the Opera House stage on Sunday, December 20th, at 2:00 pm. Doors open at 1:30. Advance tickets are $20 in the balcony, $25 for the lower level, and $30 for the first two rows and boxes (plus taxes and fees). Ticket prices increase by $5 on the day of the show. Friends of the MPOH can purchase tickets on September 17th at 10:00 am; the general public can purchase tickets on October 1st at 10:00 am.

For more than 30 years, the Ken Kilian Band has been bringing the timeless sounds of big band, jazz, and swing music to audiences throughout the Platteville area and across the Tri-State region. Founded and led by longtime saxophonist Ken Kilian, the band grew from a group of talented local musicians who shared a passion for the classic sounds of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, and Benny Goodman. What began with a vision of showcasing a strong five-saxophone section has developed into one of Southwest Wisconsin’s well-known ensembles for live big band entertainment.

The Ken Kilian Classic Big Band delivers the full, rich sound of a traditional big band, featuring five saxophones, a powerful brass section, a complete rhythm section, and featured vocals. Over the years, Ken and his various band configurations have performed thousands of engagements, including weddings, dances, concerts, festivals, community celebrations, and special events. The band has also performed at notable venues and events throughout the Midwest, sharing the stage and music with accomplished musicians while continuing to celebrate the energy and connection that only live music can create.
