A night of synth pop and energetic dance!
Madison-based synth-pop artist Carrellee will team up with energetic dance band The Earthlings for their Mineral Point Opera House debut on Saturday, January 25 at 7:30 PM, with doors opening at 6:30 PM. Tickets cost $20, plus Eventbrite fees, and will increase by $5 on the day of the show.
Carrellee is an ethereal synth-pop darkwave artist based in Madison. She released her debut album “Scale of Dreams” in 2022 (Negative Gain Productions) and toured the United States extensively on it, playing nearly 100 dates during 2023. That included an appearance at the Verboden Festival in Vancouver and shows with Glass Spells, Vision Video, IAMX, ACTORS (and too many other great bands to mention them all here)! She also performed at the legendary St. Vitus before it closed for a Synthicide Event in NYC last year.
Her debut album, “Scale of Dreams” featured delicate vocals over a wall of scorched synths and dynamic rhythms. In 2023 she released a remix album aptly entitled “Rescaled”, which featured remixes from Patriarchy, Bestial Mouths, Casket Cassette, ESA and more!
Carrellee is also currently a touring member of Chris Corner‘s solo project IAMX. Corner gained notoriety during the 90s and 2000s as a member of Sneaker Pimps.
Carrellee recently finished up a brand new set of songs for her sophomore album. “Like A Ghost” is one of them. It was co-produced with Matia Simovich (INHALT, SRSQ, Patriarchy, ETC), mixed by Maurizio Baggio (Boy Harsher, Nuovo Testamento), and mastered by Josh Bonati (Slowdive, Adrianne Lenker, Drab Majesty).
The Earthlings have spent the last decade fostering a community and reputation in Madison as of one of the town’s most exciting live shows. The music is cinematic and groovy. Abundant vocal harmony between brothers Noah and Elliott Gilfillan, and Luke Peters, is supported by evocative synth melodies, driving effected bass foundations courtesy of Grant Blashcka, and the pulsing rhythm of Chuckie Brown’s live drum kit combined with sequencers and sampling. The guitar work of Neil Barhite ranges from ethereal to razorlike, and is complimented by the shared efforts of Elliott and Luke on rhythm guitar. The Earthlings combine these elements in a package that expertly tows the line between chaos and contemplation. It’s catchy, it’s groovy, it’s bedlam, and it’s impossible not to dance to.
